Newsletters and Meetings
(you'll need this to read the .pdf files used after Feb 2004)

Vince Herod is the editor of the newsletter.  If you have anything you'd like to see printed in the newsletter, please submit it to him.  You can send Vince an email by clicking here.

Balcones Forge meets once a month on the last Saturday of the month.  Meetings usually begin at 9:00 AM and last most of the day.   Meeting locations are announced in the monthly newsletter.

Trade Item
Each month a "trade item" is announced before the meeting.  Participants create their own version of the trade item and, at the meeting, a drawing is held to exchange the items randomly.  In other words, you go home with somebody else's creation.  It's a lot of fun...and it sharpens your skills.  You end up making stuff you would NEVER make on your own.

No online newsletter this time.  Meeting at John Crouchet's new shop near Marble Falls.

John Crouchet
Sycamore Creek Ranch
5828 Ranch Road 1431
East Marble Falls, Texas 78654
John's phone: 830-798-3710

If you come into Marble Falls from Austin or San Antonio, watch for the Colorado River. Once you cross the river into town, start counting the stoplights. The fifth stoplight will be RR 1431. Turn east (right) onto RR 1431, toward Lago Vista and Cedar Park. You will go 5.2 miles to our gate. At about five miles you will pass CR 341, which goes off to your left. Then you will go up a long, winding hill. At the very crest of the hill, suddenly turn left into our gate. This will surprise the heck out of whoever is tailgating you! Please keep the gate closed because there are cattle in this pasture. Go down our driveway and take the first possible right turn. You will follow this road across two cattle guards and past our green cabin, through another gate, and 1/4 mile further to the blacksmith shop.

See y'all there at 9am on the 25th.

What's the trade item? Yes, it is a hook.
