School Grill
This grill is an assignment in the basic blacksmithing
class (WLDG
2433 METALSMITHING) I teach at Austin
Community College. I deliberately incorporate a multitude of forging
and joining techniques to provide my students with broad exposure to these
techniques. Every time I teach this class, I make a grill of my own in the
process of demonstrating all the techniques to the students.

This panel is made from 12 of my own school grills and was photographed while on display at an ACC faculty art show at the Dougherty Arts Center in Austin. On the right is a close-up of the base of the stand...heavily forged massive steel! Below is another view of the entire panel.
